In my birthday post titled 92 Seasons, I said:
“All problems get instantaneously dissolved when I ask this question:
What if IT is not FOR LIFE but a SEASON?"
I haven’t kept my promise of writing The Daily Memo, so it’s time to set things right. Instead of feeling guilt or avoiding the issue, I want to understand why I behaved that way:
I want to write in different formats and on different topics. I want to write longer-form pieces, release infographics, draw visuals, record videos and podcasts, and do reviews of my older posts. The Daily Memo had a defined format that felt restrictive, so I avoided sticking with it altogether.
I want to ensure every piece is phenomenal. The Daily Memo was a great writing practice for several years, but I no longer feel that writing daily is essential. Taking inspiration from Derek Sivers, I want to condense my experiences into excellent posts to which I want to return.
I want this blog to be a part of my Content Empire, aka valuable to many people. I want this blog to be an active ingredient in my overall Content Strategy. So, for this reason, I want to take up the challenge of simplifying and making my content accessible to a larger audience.
I no longer believe in The Daily Memo. My friend Kayla set an excellent example for me when she decided to walk away from the smoothie brand she started in college. She wanted to free the space for the next season and was radically honest in accepting that she no longer stood behind that brand’s vision. Similarly, I feel that The Daily Memo was slightly too abstract. As I enter an aggressively active season, I want to share actionable insights, implementation tips, and conquest hacks for the areas of Life I care about: health, fitness, business, and the Mind.
To find and craft my Voice, I need to be free to experiment. Moreover, this blog is an asset and a building block in my Life’s Resume. When I feel it’s not serving its mission, I have the right to reshape it.
The blog’s new title, “The Game Master,” reflects my life’s only goal: to master myself and the Games of Health, Love, Business, and Life. Mastery is an approach to any Game in life. And Master is the one who follows the way of Mastery in every walk of Life.
We are now setting out on a new season. I hope the posts will be more actionable, valuable, and worth your precious time.
Thank you for being with me,
Mariyam
P.S. Respond to this email with my thoughts/feedback/comments. It would be much appreciated!
I LOVE this. I appreciate the honesty and explanation of the upcoming changes (although no explanation was needed). As someone who stopped blogging 2 years ago, fearing I had nothing worth saying so why say anything at all, I understand the need for introspection, analysis, and following curves in the road while exploring the ultimate destination. Looking forward to your new direction....
